Review of “The Boys, Season 2”

February 2021

“Nice. Dark. A bit over-cooked.”

When a friend recently asked me why I've stopped watching super hero movies, I wanted to explain the myriad reasons why I find them so tired and old. But rather than launching into that. I just replied that I had “Left the Church.” The thing is, they're no so fresh anymore. But then, I was dragged into watching “The Boys.” I was totally surprised. It's a lot like an even DARKER version of our very own movie, “SuperGuy: Behind the Cape.” But, it's far “nastier.” And, I must say, the second season is “more of the same,” in both good and bad ways. Like most sequels, they have a tendency to go “Temple of Doom” overboard, and then it also takes a bit for one to get bot re-acquainted with and re-interested in the characters. But, once it gets rolling, it's fun for (NOT) the whole family! This material, both due to its graphic violence and sex is something that only non-squeamish adults should watch. I'd give it a B rating overall.

Until the next remake and re-boot, Cheers!
